I just saw a picture on Facebook. It featured an acquaintance of mine and his French bulldog puppy. He looked so happy in the picture, while the puppy came across as somewhat mischievous.

I guess all puppies are all mischievous, to a certain degree, because they are not yet fully trained to follow the rules of a human household, and to walk and run on leash within the boundaries of a human society. In a way, their untrained state of mind is what we, the fully trained and socially conditioned human adults, are aspired to possess again; a sense of freedom and uninhibitedness that we all once knew but have become  distant memories as time passes by.

I felt compelled to leave a comment under the picture. I typed, “BFF”. Indeed, in a reciprocal relationship, exemplified by the one between this guy and his French bulldog puppy, love is shared on a give and take basis. The puppy is the recipient of attention and care, and the guy is the recipient of unconditional acceptance and loyalty.
