TBT & FBF

Are you on social medias? Do you do Throw Back Thursday or Flash Back Friday regularly? If you do, I am curious to know what prompted you to partake in your first ever throwback on social medias. What are your reasons? For me, it was a mixed bowl of feelings, such as nostalgia, excitement, curiosity, and vanity, that prompted me to push the Post button, then to wait, longingly, for that pop-up alert of the number of Likes I received.

In reminiscing about what has come to pass, we can either be over the moon for the blessings that we had been given, and the growth that we had made, or become saddened for the once in a lifetime opportunities that we had missed, and the unplanned events that had unfolded and consequently changed our lives forever. Unlike the power that social media account holder wields in choosing mostly to share with the world the rosy and cheery moments from the past, we, as dwellers of this three dimensional space, do not always have the power to choose what life itself decides to share with us. Unforeseen circumstances, unexpected encounters, and unpredictable turn of events can all remind us of an instance that existed in the past, which may not always be rosy and cheery.

The blonde talk show host wants to put away her brunette past; the ambitious politician, who is strategizing a comeback, only wishes to spotlight his politically glorious past; and the rich and famous tech-engineer, whose eccentricity makes him an international star, decides finally to celebrate and appreciate, publicly, his nerdy past. We all have a past, thought not every bit of it is worth being thrownback on social medias every week; however, they are still ours.
