It is so refreshing to see people, who are so unapologetic and sure of who they are. In being so, they make a good life for themselves.
No matter who we are and where we are from, there are times in life that we don’t feel confident, showing the world who we truly are. We are afraid of being judged; we are afraid of being singled out from a pack; and, we are afraid of being labeled as odd. To avoid judgements, differences and oddness, we force ourselves to live up to others’ standards, to live out others’ bias, and to feel smaller and smaller in the process.
I have tremendous admiration for people, who are proud of who they are and where they are from. The ones, who aren’t afraid of expressing their cultural heritage and personal opinions in public, while making a good living doing it. I am sure that the journey that led most of them to where they are at today wasn’t a smooth sailing. That being said, the fact that they have arrived; the fact that they have lived to tell their tale is a strong enough argument to persuade me into trying my best to do the same.
