Kids Do Need Their Own Privacy

What is like having so much space to oneself in a big house? I often wonder.

Growing up in an apartment, where relatives would come by for meals on a daily basis, I’d never really felt that my personal privacy was respected by the adults in the family. Maybe they thought that kids didn’t need privacy. What’s there for kids to hide? They have neither income, legal obligations nor relationships. Well, as someone, who was once a kid, I have to speak from my experience that every kid does need privacy. It is the freedom to choose to enjoy some alone time, away from all the family dramas at a quiet corner of the room is all there is that kids crave for the most at times.
