How often do you see models that resemble your physical attributes in fashion campaigns? I often don’t. Hence why I stopped in the middle of the road to take this picture.
In fashion, one skin color has been dominating the spotlight for centuries. Its privileged longevity continues to perpetuate and elevate, predominantly, one type of beauty ideal. In a closely connected world of 2015, the skin color of worldwide consumers with big purchasing power has changed. Many of them no longer belong to the same ethnic groups with the models as seen in billboards or fashion magazines.
It is the time that racial diversity should be the prerequisite focal point of any fashion campaign.
