I came across this caged bird at a pet store yesterday. It was beautiful and appeared to be at ease, judging solely on its behaviors. Shortly after I left the pet store, I noticed a wild bird, hovering in the winter sky. It appeared to be free and alert.
As I walked along the busy street, I couldn’t help but have an imaginary conversation between these two birds in my head.
Wild bird: “You are so lucky!”
Caged bird: “How so?”
Wild bird:”You don’t have to hunt for food. You have an abundance of it in front of you.”
Caged bird:”You are right. But I am caged. You have freedom. That is something that an abundant amount of comfort can’t replace.”
