If our life journey was a walk in the park, if our life journey was a smooth sail on the sea, would we ever harvest any wisdom from it?
I recently started to be interested in reading Bruce Lee’s quotes. I found them simple yet profound. Had he not faced and needed to overcome so many obstacles, while he was alive, before ascending to his global stardom, I wonder whether or not he would have become the inspirational Bruce Lee that the world has known him as. I wonder whether or not he would have been able to come up with all those insightful contemplations that continue to inspire and educate people of today.
Life throws curve balls at us all the time. Some of us don’t care to look for the treasures, in the form of life long wisdom, embedded in all the disappointments and setbacks that we have lived through, because they are far different from the ones in our initial imagination and expectation. Maybe the reason why our initial imagination and expectation are dashed is because life wants us to look for new ones. Maybe, a curve ball is thrown at us is because life wants to wake us up from a fanciful dreamland so that we could firmly plant our feet on the ground, in terms of our life-visioning and goal-setting. In embracing the unknown and being realistic about life can we start to self-motivate and to live out our truest potentials; subsequently, be open to harvesting wisdom in the valley.
